Loco Roco

Finally… a game that has been released for the PSP that doesn’t take ages to load nor is it a game targeted at a particular niche market. This is the game that Sony SHOULD have gone to launch with and I’m sure the handheld would have fared my better than it’s current form.

Loco Roco follows the story of a blob-like creature that traverses a bouncy and colourful world, collecting bonuses and fruits to increase in size. As you progressively get larger, you can break up the blob to fit through narrow crevices and increase your chance of finding hidden rooms and secrets. Or you can group all the little blobs together *JOOOOOOIIIINNNNNNNNNN!* to become the blob o’ fury you were destined to be.

If you own a PSP… this is a must-have game, no hesitation.

Before I went away on my brief overseas jaunt to the US, I was looking around frantically for a new apartment. The previous apartment I was living in was awesome… it was everything I could have asked for and more. Great location (The Italian Forum, Leichhardt), only minutes away from the CBD and approx. 20mins away from work, good shops for groceries and books, excellent places to get breakfast in the morning, plus close to a JB Hi-Fi store which took care of all my music needs.

After a while, the other people I was living with (I lived with two other couples, I was the only single person in the household) had a falling out and it all basically went to shit. The end result… everyone had to move and find their own place. The couples sorted themselves out with a new place pretty quickly but I was still left with a conundrum… I needed to find a place to live and fast. In the end, I didn’t find anything in time and I had to move back to my Dad’s as an interim and find somewhere to live when I returned. I feel it was fate though that I didn’t find anything… the money situation wasn’t the best whilst I was travelling (that’s a whole other story!) and I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to pay rent and holiday at the same time.

So, this is my second week back now and I have had a few leads on some prospective new housemates. Eron, one of the housemates from Leichhardt, tee’ed up a ‘catch-up’ beer last sunday at the Clock Hotel and I met two of his friends that are looking for a new place and a new roommate, at the same time. Both of these guys seemed pretty cool and it’s now agreed, we’re looking for a 3-bdr place in the Alexandria area. Plus one of the guys is a DnB dj and I’m mad keen to swap music and pickup some new skills.

So the end result wasn’t all that bad… hell, it could have turned out a lot worse! I could be living in a trailer, down by the river… ;)

Got pHp?

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

Many thanks again to Dave who has been the ultimate resource for this new version of Wordpress… there has been some massive changes in the software in the past year and I’m playing catch-up. Hopefully I will be uploading all the archives from the previous version of my blog soon… I have all the files intact and fingers crossed that it’s all smooth sailing during the install. I was a little daunted when I opened up some of the templates to make a few changes and a whole bunch of php code jumped out at me. I seriously have no idea about php but I’m willing to try and learn… I can’t keep asking for Dave’s help all the time, can I?

I’m a little disappointed my blog wasn’t up and running during my recent trip to the US and I was hoping to emulate previous holidays with random ramblings for everyone to see. That said, I had an awesome time and I wouldn’t change any part of the trip at all. Still… I would have loved to post my insights on the crazy country that is America. :)
P.S. I need more holidays.

Back from the dead…

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Well… it’s about time I got this blog up and running again after being down for approx. a year after my server died. Due to time restraints and other factors, I never had a chance to fix the server and in the end I just got lazy.

Now thanks to Dave’s help, fastlikesquirrel.com is back up and running, with the new version of WordPress and new hosting. So… hopefully there will no downtime in the future and more love for this site.

May the squirrel training commence… ;)
